The Allied electric cab is built on a Peugeot platform and sports an all-electric drivetrain. It goes up to 60 mph with a 100 mile range. Charge time is 6 hours.
Perhaps if you are doing nothing more than lounging poolside while working at a part-time job this summer, the season may seem to be progressing slowly. To a workaday stiff like myself with precious few summertime weekends and a boatload of back-to-school laptops to review, I see the calendar soon turning to August and Labor Day fast approaching. As I view it, there’s little time left before a busy class schedule will replace your lazy days of summer.
We’re doing this list a bit early this week, but we spotted a few worthy phones to report. The new Motorola Ischia now has the official FCC nod along with the LG VX500 and LG AX500. Only the most passionate cell phone geeks know that the Federal Communications Commission …
Last month’s desktop announcement from Gateway showed us two things: one, that desktop memory is now more affordable than ever; and two, that the 64-bit software era is upon us in full force.
The Gadget: Protective fabric-based sleeves for your iPhone 3G/original iPhone. Unlike a case, you slip your iPhone inside via the top and have to take it back out entirely to use.
We all know minimalism is currently king in the gadget design world. Fancy shapes, switches and knobs have been eschewed in favor of clean and simple designs that take a backseat to interface. Last week, I called on you to create and submit some brutally honest gadget ads. And you did! While I’d say about half of the entries were ads for the iPhone 3G (I get it guys, you want copy and paste), we also got some pretty awesome ads for other devices. From the predictable (red-ringing Xbox 360s) to the completely unpredictable (White Castle Slyders, last time I checked, aren’t gadgets, but I let it, uh, slide), we have some great entries here. Hit the jump for your top three winners and all the rest of the top entries in the Gallery of Champions.
Those of you clamoring for an Apple tablet may finally get what you’ve been waiting for. According to a MacDailyNews source who leaked wireless iTunes a week before its official announcement, we can expect a sort of “MacBook touch” in October. And the source wasn’t light on the details, either:
The 2008 International Design Excellence Awards are in. These are like the Oscars of the industrial design world, taking the pulse of what’s going on, highlighting tons of weird and wonderful gadgets. We have picked the best, the weirdest, and the most wonderful, from laser liners that look like Wall-E’s Eve evil twin, microwave containers with lids, and wall-mounted home server enclosures straight out of Star Trek, to self-propelled sprayers (like me), NYC condom dispensers/wrappers (no connection there), a “vibrating massager” that looks like an aubergine, and even a precision timing detonation system.
The world of car audio can be a tricky place for beginners. With so much information to absorb and so many different products available, the novice (and sometimes even the seasoned) car audio enthusiast could find himself quickly overwhelmed–or worse, misinformed. With this in mind, we looked at Car Audio for Dummies (one in a long line of “…For Dummies” books) to see how helpful the book could be.
